When Joseph Cerniglia couldn't find the classic antique automobile he had always wanted, he decided to build his own. With help from his son-in-law, Cerniglia took a wrecked 1968 Pontiac Grand Prix and created a Coupe La Grande, definitely one of a kind. In addition to the Pontiac's original equipment, the men added front and rear bucket seats and a built-in tool kit under the hood. They shaped the fender, trunk lid, hood and other parts. It took three years to complete, but on Aug. 21, 1974, Cerniglia was ready to introduce his new vehicle to the public. The car weighed about 5,000 pounds and got around 12 miles to the gallon. Today's Morguetale has a photo of the car before its restoration.
