Parker Canyon Lake and the Lakeview Campground have been closed to the public because of black bear acitivity in the area, U.S. Forest Service officials said Tuesday.
Several bears have frequented the campground and vicinity on the last several days, according to a news release from the Coronado National Forest.
Forest officials are working with the Arizona Game and Fish Department to keep the area closed while the bears are trapped and removed.
Black bears are attracted by human food and garbage, which may be present throughout the campground, marina and at homes in the area.
The lake and campground southwest of Sierra Vista will be closed until the bears are relocated elsewhere in the forest, officials said.
