1956: Almost 2,000 screaming fans witness Elvis Presley's first Tucson performance on a wooden stage at the rodeo grounds. Tickets for the concert were $1.50 in advance and $2 at the door. The next morning, The Arizona Daily Star’s reviewer writes that he could “hardly be classed as a singer.”
