The Tucson Police Department has arrested Albert Maxam, 41, charging him with suspicion of arson, criminal damage and endangerment in connection with an apartment fire on Sunday morning, said TPD Sgt. Kimberly Bay.
During the fire, a TPD officer suffered minor smoke inhalation while assisting evacuation efforts during an apartment fire on Tucson's northwest side early Sunday morning, said Barrett Baker, a battalion chief with the Tucson Fire Department.
The officer was transported to a hospital for precautionary reasons but is expected to make a full recovery, he said.
Four apartment units were damaged displacing multiple residents as TFD units were dispatched to the fire on North Stone Avenue near Roger Road after 1:30 a.m., Baker said.
As the first units arrived, two apartment units on the second floor were fully involved and a second alarm was called. Firefighters assisted in evacuating the surrounding apartments and prevented the fire from spreading, Baker said.

The fire was contained to the two second floor apartments plus the two bottom units which received electrical and water damage.
The Red Cross was summoned to assist an undetermined number of residents from the damaged four units.
None of the firefighters that worked the fire were injured.
Damage estimate to the apartment complex is yet to be determined plus the cause and origin of the fire is under investigation, Baker said.
