A buckled concrete median that juts upward is on North Oracle Road near East Rancho Vistoso Boulevard in Oro Valley, and it has one taxpayer worried.
Jim Fabio said the buckled median could be a hazard to drivers heading north if they need to swerve to avoid a collision. If a car hit the concrete, it could careen out of control, Fabio said.
"It's really, really a danger," he said.
Though the intersection is in Oro Valley, repairing the median is the responsibility of the Arizona Department of Transportation. That's because Oracle Road, also Arizona 77, is maintained by the state.
Fabio said he tried to complain about the issue to the state but wasn't able to get hold of the right person. The concrete, which folds upward about a foot, has been cracked like that for several years, and nothing has been done about it, he said.

ADOT spokeswoman Linda Ritter said the state hadn't received any complaints about the bump in the median. After being contacted by a reporter Monday, the head of maintenance inspected it and determined it wasn't a safety concern.
"There have been no issues with traffic hitting the bump," Ritter said. Although it is near a crosswalk, the buckling poses no threat to pedestrians because there is an area for them to safely cross, she said.
"ADOT will closely monitor the bump to find out if there are any issues involving it," Ritter said. "And currently there are none."
