When was the last time we had a year that was cooler than normal? How many of the last 10 years have been cooler than normal?

T he last time the overall yearly temperature was below normal was in 1998, and it was only one-tenth of a degree below normal. 1998 was the only year in the last 10 when we have been below normal. In the last 20 years, we have had only two years with a below-average daytime high, 1998 and 2004.
