Ned Norris Jr. has been re-elected as chairman of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
In elections held Saturday, Norris defeated former running mate and past Chairwoman Vivian Juan-Saunders for the second consecutive time. Norris won by getting 60 percent of the 3,729 total votes, according to the nation.
In 2007, Norris defeated Juan-Saunders by getting 56 percent of the 3,105 votes.
Juan-Saunders, the first woman elected to lead the nation, won in 2003 with Norris as her vice chairman, but in June 2006 Norris resigned his post.
Norris' new vice chairwoman is Wavalene Romero, who will resign from her seat on the Legislative Council to work with Norris. Current Vice Chairman Isidro Lopez retired.
The Tohono O'odham Nation is southwest of Tucson and stretches across 75 miles of U.S.-Mexico border.
