A woman who fell asleep behind the wheel ended up in a dry irrigation canal in Marana Thursday.
The woman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was treated at the scene by Northwest Fire District paramedics and released, said Sgt. Chris Warren, a Marana Police Department spokesman.
Passer-bys called 911 and reported the crash at 5:30 p.m., Warren said.
He said the woman was driving on the Interstate 10 frontage road, north of West Tangerine Road, when she fell asleep and the car went off the road and rolled into the canal.
