A bicyclist struck by a car this morning in central Tucson has died from injuries sustained in the crash, authorities said.
The adult male was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but died shortly later, said Tucson Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Bay.
The bicyclist was in a northbound lane of South Craycroft Road about 8:30 a.m. and stopped in the crosswalk at a red light at East 22nd Street, she said.
He went against the red light and began to cross 22nd Street, when he was struck by a car traveling east with the green light, Bay said.
Traffic detectives are on the scene and police say the eastbound lanes of 22nd Street will be closed for the next few hours.
