1859: The first issue of the Weekly Arizonian is published, with J. Howard Wells as editor. The Weekly Arizonian was the first newspaper in Arizona, having been established in Tubac on March 3, 1859.
1906: Democratic and Republican state central committees denounce statehood with New Mexico.
1908: A heavy rainstorm sends floods roaring down Tombstone Canyon in Bisbee. The library, post office and many store basements are flooded.
1912: Iron bridge at Hereford becomes useless when the San Pedro River changes course.
2007: Flash floods strand 50 hikers and a wall of water sweeps two of them to their deaths near Seven Falls in the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area. Helicopters fly out most of the survivors.
