Dolores Huerta, co-founder with Cesar Chavez of the United Farm Workers of America union, and others told the New York Times, for a report published March 18, that Chavez sexually abused them, including two women who said the abuse started when they were 12 and 13 in the 1970s. The New York Times published these findings after a multi-year investigation. Both Chavez, who died in 1993, and Huerta, as revered civil rights leaders, have made public appearances in Tucson over the years.
