National Tequila Day fell on taco Tuesday: Here are 9 places in Tucson to celebrate

  • Jul 24, 2018
  • Jul 24, 2018 Updated Dec 28, 2022

Can we all just take a second to appreciate the fact that National Tequila Day falls on Taco Tuesday?

Yes — today, July 24, marks National Tequila Day. So, after that long day of work, visit your favorite bar or restaurant and enjoy your go-to cocktail. (Just keep in mind that temperatures in Tucson are extremely high today.)

We've got 9 spots for you to visit for a sip (or two?) of tequila. And lucky for you, some of them are offering deals.

And if you're really into tequila, you can plan ahead and get $7 off your tickets to the World Margarita Championship (August 10) and the Southern Arizona Salsa, Tequila & Taco Challenge (September 2).

Visit saaca.org/events and use code TEQUILA at checkout to cash in on the ticket deal. The offer expires July 25.

Side note: The Tequila Factory at Casino Del Sol is another good place to visit if you're a tequila enthusiast — they have more than 120 tequila varieties. But it's not open today.

Reforma Modern Mexican

5 Tucson margaritas to drink — and eat — right now

Prickly pear margarita at Reforma: The patio weather gods have sent this one down from above: a gorgeous prickly pear margarita, $10, that’s neither too sweet nor too strong — just perfect for outside sipping, with a floral aroma and the mellow spice notes of Sauza Blue tequila. And, no, that’s not salt. It’s sugar, baby! At Reforma Cocina y Cantina, 4310 N. Campbell Ave.

Reforma is the perfect spot to enjoy National Tequila Day and Taco Tuesday.

The restaurant doesn't have any tequila deals today, but you can get two tacos for $6 in celebration of Taco Tuesday! (Hint: Visit Reforma on Thursday for half-off all tequila.)

Reforma is located in St. Philip's Plaza, 4340 N. Campbell Avenue.

Visit two of the Guadalajara Grill locations to get this fancy margarita. The Bandera Margarita is a frozen margarita with three layers of flavor — strawberry, house, and melon-lime.

The restaurant also serves several other margarita options.

Order from the extensive drink menu at 1220 E. Prince Road and 7360 N. Oracle Road.

Blanco Tacos + Tequila

Considering the word "tequila" is literally in the restaurant's name, it's only fitting to include Blanco in this roundup.

Blanco serves eight margarita options and another four cocktails that feature tequila.

Blanco Tacos + Tequila is located at 2905 E. Skyline Drive near the La Encantada Mall.

BOCA Tacos y Tequila

The restaurant boasts 30 different kinds of local beer and 40 varieties of tequila, vodka, and whiskey.

Happy hour runs from 4 to 6 p.m. with $2 tequila shots, $5 margaritas, and many other deals.

La Cocina downtown,  a restaurant whose patio is a popular dining destination, is providing free meals to displaced service industry workers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This photo is from 2016; the restaurant, like all restaurants in Arizona, has closed its dining room.
