Bank-robbery suspect linked to several more
A man arrested Wednesday by South Tucson police in connection with a recent bank robbery has been linked to several other area robberies, court records show.
Richard Wilger, 41, has been booked on suspicion of five counts of robbery and one count each of armed robbery, armed robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to documents filed in Pima County Justice Court.
Wilger is accused of the robberies of four banks and two convenience stores, as well as an attempted bank robbery, between April 26 and July 19, court records show.
South Tucson police were able to link Wilger to the other robberies after they investigated a July 19 robbery at the Washington Savings Bank branch at 1833 S. Sixth Ave.
