A woman who ran from her gun-wielding husband to get help was shot in the front yard of her neighbor's home Friday night and died a few hours later.
The woman, identified as 37-year-old Karina M. Luna, was pronounced dead around 11 p.m. after being taken to a hospital, said Officer Sam Almodova, a Sahuarita Police Department spokesman.
Her husband, 39-year-old Emil J. Luna, turned the gun on himself after wounding her, Almodova said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors in the area of Camino del Abedul, near Pima Mine Road and Rancho Sahuarita Boulevard, called 911 around 6 p.m. to report shots being fired, Almodova said.
The pair were arguing about something prior to the shooting, but there were no witnesses as to what the fight was about, he said.
When police officers arrived in the neighborhood, they found the couple lying in the front yard of their neighbor's home.

Almodova said there were no orders of protection in place and he did not believe that police had responded to the home in the past.
He would not say if the couple had any children.
