The Tucson High Magnet School marching band has found a unique way to raise a little extra money.
For the past two years, it’s sold a recording of the school fight song as a downloadable ringtone.
The ringtone, available for $2.50 at http://www.tucsonhighbands.org/School-Song-Ringtones.html is a shortened version of the fight song.
Band director Christopher Constantine said the school has sold between 50 and 100 ringtones, and added that all the money the project raises goes directly to the band.
Constantine said he thought of the idea because he was looking for a way to spread the song in public.
“It seemed that if we’d make a ringtone it would be trendy enough to get people to purchase and maybe we’d hear it around,” he said.
