Dan Meyer, who has traveled extensively in Ireland pursuing his Irish roots, will present a talk on the main aspects of Celtic spirituality at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church.
The talk is part of the adult education series at the church, 4625 E. River Road, at North Swan Road.
Celtic spirituality is an amalgam of the Celtic Christian tradition tracing back to the early Middle Ages and the indigenous Irish pagan religious ideas and practices.
The Iona Community grew out of this tradition. During the early-modern period it became a main theme of the British Romanticist movement, and in recent years it has become a focus of New Age religious consciousness.
Participants are encouraged to read John O'Donohue's book "Anam Cara" (Soul Friend) for an in-depth exploration of Celtic spirituality.
