St. Philip's Friends of Music's summer concert series will continue at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bloom Music Center at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church.
In honor of Bastille Day, soprano Mary Paul, baritone Larry Alexander and pianist Bonnie Bird will present a salute to French opera, musical theater and cabaret, titled "French Toast."
Arias and duets from operas by Delibes, Gounod, Massenet and Ambroise Thomas will be paired with selections from "Gigi," "South Pacific" and "The Phantom of the Opera."
No afternoon of French music would be complete without "La Vie en Rose," and Paul and Alexander also will perform a collection of songs titled "Mots d'heure: Gousse, Rames" (Mother Goose Rhymes).
Hailed for her impeccable phrasing, Paul is a dynamic singing actress who has held leading roles in the operas of Mozart, Verdi, Donizetti, Johann Strauss and Richard Strauss.
