St. Philip's Friends of Music presents "Russian Musical Treasures" at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, in the Bloom Music Center, 4440 N. Campbell Ave.
Pianist Alexander Tentser and violinist Anna Gendler will present a program of works for solo piano and piano/violin duo by Russian composers Peter Illich Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Scriabin and Sergei Prokofieff.
Trained in Moscow, Tentser and Gendler have been brought up in the great Russian music tradition as originated in the 19th century by Anton and Nicholas Rubinstein.
Tentser will perform preludes by Rachmaninoff (Op. 23) and Scriabin (Op. 11) as well as Theme and Variations in F Major by Tchaikovsky.
Tentser and Gendler together will perform Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in D Major by Prokofieff.

In addition to making local and national solo and chamber music appearances, Tentser directs the Pima Community College Orchestra and teaches piano and other music courses there. He is pianist/organist at Rincon Congregational Church.
Gendler is a violinist with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, a faculty member at Pima Community College and a studio teacher.
Admission is a suggested donation of $15 to St. Philip's Friends of Music.
Ample parking is available in the north parking lot. The Bloom Music Center is to the right, just down the breezeway from the north parking lot.
