At 87, Ernie Menehune has no problem still drawing a crowd.
A standing-room-only audience filled the Kirk-Bear Canyon LIbrary activity room to listen to the performer and his Polynesian Revue.
Several people were turned away Saturday, prompting a second show at the library, 8959 E. Tanque Verde Road. They were treated to Kona Shave Ice while they waited.
Between shows, Menehune said he was thrilled with the turnout and enjoyed the setting.
"I like the intimate groups," he said. "It's like we're having our own party."
Many in the audience sported Hawaiian leis and shirts and are longtime fans of Menehune.
"I'm not even old anymore," Menehune said. "I'm in the ancient category."
Ancient or not, Hawaii's "suntanned Irishman" not only draws a crowd, but charms it as well.
