St. Philip's Friends of Music presents noontime recitals during Lent on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. beginning today.
This is a delightful way to relax and enjoy 30 minutes of music during your lunch hour. This year lots of singing is featured, from medieval melodies to Monty Python tunes, spirituals to opera.
Today, "Duets to Die For" will be presented by sopranos Elena Todd and Sue Thibodeaux, with Jeffrey Campbell on piano. Their selections span Baroque to Broadway.
On Feb. 25, Ron Clayton, bass, accompanied by Betty Douglas, performs "Spirituals and Show Stoppers," including "Deep River" and other spirituals, as well as the mellifluous "Danny Boy" and "Caro Mio Ben."
Tenor Harlan Hokin and friends will entertain with "Medieval Melodies" March 4.
On March 11, join Arizeder Urreiztieta, bass, and Mary Lonsdale Baker, piano, to hear songs of Agustin Lara and other Mexican composers.

Prometheus Unbound! tenors L.H. Brown, Matthew Holter and Wayne "Sandy" Glass will present music for equal (and not-so-equal) voices March 18.
The series concludes March 25 when former Tucsonan Maureen Papovich, soprano, returns to perform ethereal melodies with Bonnie Bird on piano.
Refreshments follow the recitals. The public is invited.
Admission is by donation to St. Philip's Friends of Music. St. Philip's is at 4440 N. Campbell Ave. at East River Road. The Music Center is near the north parking lot, on the right as you walk down the breezeway.
