Special events volunteer: Join special events volunteers at a national nonprofit education organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adults 50 and over. Help with special events such as celebrations and preparing mailings and materials for special projects.

Docent: Volunteer as a docent, become an expert and teach, lead tours and interpret the desert to park visitors and through outreaches into the community. Docents are the bridge to the community for an organization that works to enrich people's lives by connecting them with the wonders of nature, art and culture in the Sonoran Desert region and inspiring wise stewardship of the natural world. A challenging 18-week course of study is required.

Kidz Kamp activity educator: Combat childhood obesity and learn how to help children lead a healthy, active lifestyle. Design and/or help teach a physical-activity curriculum to children and families at monthly Kidz Kamps, free classes for families that teach nutrition, physical education and healthy lifestyle habits.

Medical equipment maintenance and repair: Help a nonprofit, nonsectarian social services agency provide affordable access to medical equipment by helping inspect, sanitize and repair medical equipment. This service allows individuals with medical needs to live with greater mobility, safety and comfort.

Hospitality volunteer: Transform a clinic waiting room into a fun and welcoming environment for a family-centered medical home that works to meet the special needs of children and families. Volunteer activities range from setting up refreshment carts for clinic families to reading stories to engaging children in arts and crafts and other play activities.
