Presiding Pima County Superior Court Judge Jan Kearney has appointed Wayne E. Yehling and Lisa I. Abrams to fill two vacant court commissioner seats.
Yehling will replace Commissioner Richard Henry, who recently retired, and Abrams will replace Commissioner Kyle Bryson, recently appointed a Pima County Superior Court judge by Gov. Jan Brewer.
Commissioners carry out various judicial duties. For example, they can hear cases in which an uncontested charge has been entered, and they may conduct the initial appearance of a defendant charged with a crime.
Yehling, a Tucson native and 1985 University of Arizona law school graduate, is a former shareholder in the firm of DeConcini McDonald Yetwin and Lacy. He has already started his new job.
Abrams is a 1993 UA law school grad who is a shareholder in the firm of Karp and Weiss. She begins her new job in May.
