A newly developed "themed atmosphere" at Casas Church on North La Cholla Boulevard aims to make church a fun experience for kids.
For parents, Kid City is a safe place to leave children and attend services or other activities at the church.
The new complex will have its debut Sunday after the 10:45 a.m. service.
The facility is for children ranging in age from newborn to fifth-graders, said associate pastor Jerry Wilkinson.
"We wanted to create an atmosphere that was fun for kids - something enjoyable and less boring," he said.
"We want to start early helping children understand that going to church is a fun experience and to get them to understand there is value in being part of the church community."
Located on the grounds of the church, which is between West Lambert Lane and West Naranja Drive, the $750,000 Kid City was designed by Bruce Barry's Wacky World Studios, whose client list extends from Florida to California.

Children's activities involve large-group experiences such as music, crafts, games and Bible study. A second component involves small-group activities and age-appropriate Bible discussion.
Activities for preschool children involve songs, storytelling and playground time.
The Kid City Main Street, which is outdoors, features life-size play features in the shape of vehicles on an artificial grass surface and a rubberized roadway. There also are park benches and fire hydrants to play around.
As for security, a new electronic system takes 30 seconds to check in an entire family to Kid City, Wilkinson said.
The church also has an elaborate system so strangers cannot remove children, Wilkinson said.
"Once checked in, then they are off and running," he said.
Sunday's festivities will include giving designer Bruce Barry the keys to Kid City and proclaiming him mayor.
