Super Bowl Sunday revelers, take heed — while the footballs are being tossed in Vegas, Tucson temperatures will be dropping, and widespread frost is expected to hit the roadways as bars close.
National Weather Service meteorologists expect Sunday’s daytime high to hover around 56 degrees in Tucson. Lows are expected to hit 32 degrees, or freezing.
Super Bowl party hosts might consider moving the gang indoors to watch the game. And desert green thumbs should cover their plants to protect from early morning frost early this week.
But as the week wears on, residents will start to remember why they love Tucson winters so much. Warm, sunny and dry conditions are predicted for the next week, with daytime highs warming to above normal by mid-week, the weather service says. The average temperature for Tucson in February, according to NWS data, is 56.2 degrees.
