Arizona officials love reminding us we prepared for the Colorado River crisis — banking water, building conservation programs, negotiating shortage deals. But look at Las Vegas.

After reading Mr. Johnson’s LTE this morning I’d like to add my name and letter to the many you’ll be getting. Mr. Johnson, of course, is certainly entitled to his take on trump, no question there, it’s just so upsetting to this reader to see his thoughts, alas.

Smoke still rose from the ruins of the World Trade Center, and the smell of nearly 2,000 deaths lingered miles uptown. A reporter asked New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani whether he worried that the city's Muslim neighborhoods would be attacked in revenge for that Islamist-inspired atrocity. Giuliani responded that he would make sure that didn't happen, that he was sending more police to those areas to protect their residents.
