Congressman speaks at Tibetan uprising anniversary
A peaceful protest took place outside of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. on Friday to commemorate the 1959 Tibetan uprising against Chinese occupation, where the Dalai Lama fled into exile. Since then, China has maintained strict control over Tibet. U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-WI, is the Chairman of the U.S. House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, was greeted warmly by the protestors.
