I wonder if those people who are outraged at proposed student loan forgiveness efforts on the part of the Biden administration are also outraged that businessmen, including Trump, readily avail themselves of loan forgiveness via the completetly legal avenue of bankruptcy? Businesses fail for all the same reasons people get financially swamped by student loans: poor choices, overconfidence, inability to predict the market, economic forces beyond their control, personal setbacks, legal changes etc. At one time, student loans could be discharged in bankruptcy, but Congress changed that to make the bar extremely high. Isnt taking out student loans the same kind of gamble an entrapreneur makes when starting up a business? Why is one group favored in the law but the other is punished for not succeeding?
