Michael Chihak's recent opinion column, using Jesus' words from the Sermon on the Mount, summed up my thoughts and those of many others: Trump, in claiming "to honor Jesus Christ very powerfully," is a hypocrite. Jesus specifically singles out liars and hypocrites as being opposed to his teachings (John 8 and Matthew 23), and Trump and his administration are built on lies and hypocrisy.
In fact Trump and his vision are anti-Christian, as by his hate-filled example he encourages true Christians to follow him in betraying the teachings of Jesus, who held up "love your neighbor as yourself" as the second greatest commandment (Matt 23:39). The Bible is very clear that Jesus' message was for us to love one another and treat others with kindness. Trump openly and proudly mocks that notion and is dragging the uncaring and the unwary believers with him off the Christian path.
