I note the recent Tucson story about ICE agents trying to sneak up on a suspected illegal immigrant by claiming that they worked for TEP. However, a neighbor became suspicious because the men did not have uniforms or anything else identifying them as TEP employees. If ICE agents are going to interact with the public they should be immediately identifiable as such by wearing uniforms identifying them as ICE agents.
In view of ICE agents’ often heavy-handed terrorizing of the public with rude, arrogant, and occasionally physically abusive behavior, the most appropriate uniform choice would be copies of those worn by the WW II Nazi Gestapo. These black uniforms would be appropriate, immediately recognizable, and intimidating – as intended.
Given Kristi Noem’s penchant for dressing up in various costumes related to agencies under DHS, she would jump at the chance to strut around in a tight fitted black uniform, high black boots, and a peaked officer’s cap.
