It is heartbreaking to witness roundups of Mexicans in LA, breaking up families, destroying lives. But the fact that Americans are protesting against ICE and the administration in several cities may be the determining factor in halting the fascist regime in its tracks.
In contrast, when the Nazis were rounding up Jews, there was only one protest -- the Rosenstrasse protest in Berlin, 1943, primarily German wives married to Jewish men who were being arrested. The Nazis released the Jewish men who had intermarried, primarily because they wanted to avoid chaos and the impression that all Germans weren't united against the Jews, which ultimately could destroy the regime.
Some Germans didn't protest the deportation of Jews, because they were in favor of it for self-interest. Just as in LA, there were factory, home, and street roundups. The Germans used factory roundups to find workers for the concentration camps.

Roundups in the US won't stop with Mexicans. Who's next? Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Asians, Blacks, LGBTQ? Keep protesting.
