I was born and bred a patriotic American. And like most patriotic Americans, I was raised to be a good and fair sport. I have always assumed that the great majority of Americans were also raised this way. Good and fair sports do not cheat, no matter what the stakes. And if the U.S. soccer team had beaten Belgium in the World Cup, they would have won by cheating. Balogun, poor guy, didn’t cheat; the other U.S. players didn’t cheat; the U.S. coaches didn’t cheat. No, it was Donald Trump, the president of the United States, who cheated, by interfering in Balogon’s penalty. Sorry to say, the U.S. should be glad they lost, because if they had won, their win would have been forever tainted.
