Re: the May 22 article "Plan would ease hunting rules on Alaska wildlife."
What is wrong with these people? Why is the Safari Club International (located in Tucson) supporting the repeal of regulations that protects wildlife in Alaska? The club states on its website that they are “protecting hunters' rights and promoting wildlife conservation” and that they “encourage an appreciation for nature and wildlife (and) that conservation efforts remain strong, while also fighting to protect our rich hunting heritage.”
Is it part of their rich hunting heritage to hunt black bears with dogs, kill wolves and pups in their dens, and hibernating bears and their cubs in their dens, and use motor boats to shoot swimming caribou? I assumed that hunters acted in a fair manner towards their opponent; I guess I was wrong. They just want to kill anywhere they want, anytime they want. These people are cowards with guns who know nothing about conservation and do not have an appreciation for nature and wildlife. Their words are hollow and hypocritical.
