US Voices Support for Taiwan’s Participation at Pacific Islands Forum
The US State Department says it strongly supports Taiwan's participation in this year's Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) in Palau, calling it a significant contributor to the region. Taiwan has been a PIF development partner since 1993, allowing it to hold sideline events with forum members and other partners. But all non-member states, including the US and China, were excluded from last year's forum in the Solomon Islands, reportedly amid Beijing's efforts to push Taiwan out.
