As the ride approaches its silver anniversary, we take a look at another series of numbers that matter — records, times, races and fast facts about UMC El Tour de Tucson:
Fast times
4:13.43 — The 109-mile event's record finish, set by Tucsonan Phil Zajicek in 2003. The Sahuaro High School grad knocked off three-time champ Jame Carney in the final five miles of the event.
4:19.09 — Last year, Canadian and first-time El Tour participant Alex Wrubleski smashed the female record and defeated the next-closest female finisher by 11 minutes.
4:16:35 — The male tandem ride record, set by Californians Chris Demarchi and Gilbert Correa last year.
