Pima College sophomore Chapo Delgado threw a no-hitter to help the Aztecs sweep an ACCAC doubleheader at Mesa on Saturday.
The right-hander from Sahuarita High School threw the first no-hitter in coach Edgar Soto's 11-year era at PCC. Delgado struck out six as Pima won the opener 6-0.
Pima's Daniel Romero (Desert View High School) followed with a nine-inning two-hit shutout in an 8-0 victory in the second game. He struck out 14 as Pima moved to 10-8 overall and 7-3 in ACCAC play.
"It was an impressive day and I'm sure one that Chapo won't forget. I'm sure I won't either," Soto said in a news release. "He has always been a guy who was around the zone, so I thought it was possible that he would do this. He has had one- and two-hitters before. He really threw the ball well, and it helped that we made some great defensive plays behind him.
