Michael Chadwick, 43, is Pueblo High School's new football coach.
He previously was head coach at Yuma High School for one season and had worked as an assistant coach in Washington state for about 20 years.
He said he likes the competitive 4A-I Sonoran Region and wants to increase participation and build on the progress made by Scott McKee, whom he replaced. McKee is coaching at Sahuaro.
Chadwick's coaching principles are hard work, discipline and dedication, he said.
Chadwick accepted the job last week, he said, and met with players and their families Tuesday night. Pueblo was 2-9 last season.

Scottsdale Chaparral High School's Chase Gorham verbally committed to Arizona on Tuesday, giving the Wildcats an heir apparent to long snapper Jason Bertoni.
Gorham, 16, chose Arizona over an offer from Oregon and letters from a handful of other schools. In reality, he didn't have a choice.
"I remember going down to Tucson when I was a little kid and going to games, getting home at 3 in the morning and having people wake me up because I was asleep in the back of the car," he said. "Everybody really did want me to go to the U of A."
Gorham's father, Charlie, kicked for the UA in 1973. His grandfather, Richard Reynolds, was a defensive tackle in 1946.
Gorham's recruitment was relatively quick. Gorham won the head-to-head long-snapper challenge tournament at Chris Sailer's National Kicking Event in January; he was offered a scholarship after Saturday's UA spring game.
Gorham — and the rest of Arizona's 2010 recruiting class – can sign national letters of intent in February.
