At Catalina, the Trojans (1-8) traded possessions and touchdowns with Empire (3-6) during the first half with both teams committing two turnovers. After the half the Ravens shut out the Trojans and scored two touchdowns in the final quarter to pull out the win.
Highlight reel: With less than a minute left the first half and the score tied, Catalina’s Taliq Williams blocked a pass out of the hands of Empire quarterback Lorenzo Sanchez and returned it for a 76-yard touchdown to give the Trojans the lead.
Player of the game: Empire's Chris Schoolcraft ran for 202 yards on 36 carries and scored three touchdowns.
By the numbers: 5. There were five total turnovers in the game. Both teams intercepted two passes, and Catalina recovered a fumble.
He said it: "This was huge for us. We had a tough year and it was nice to see the kids come out and fight to the end," said Empire coach W.T. Jeffries.
