Crews demolish a single-story portion of the The Westerner, 10 E Broadway, which opened in 1949 as a hotel, for redevelopment by COPE Community Services. The existing 55,024 square foot, four-story building is expected to be renovated for offices and ground floor commercial usage with 3,000 square-feet for retail. A new 38,421 square-foot, six-story addition is expected to be added at 20 E Broadway providing 50 housing units and support facilities for low-income seniors and veterans.
