Say hello to Ndizi, the newest giraffe calf at Reid Park Zoo! The name โ which means โbananaโ ๐ โ was chosen by the community in a poll that brought in more than 9,000 votes.
And Ndizi is already growing fast. In just a few weeks, heโs shot up about a foot and is now standing around 7 feet tall (!!!).
Heโs still mostly sticking to milk, but has started showing interest in snacks like browse โ the fresh leaves, twigs, buds and bark giraffes eat โ along with pellets. And heโs definitely keeping things interesting in the habitat. Ndizi has been especially curious about the peacocks that wander in, and seems to love hanging out with his feathered visitors.
If you want to catch him, your best bet is in the morning โ though heโs starting to explore more throughout the day.ย
Honestly? Weโre obsessed.
