On the advice of some of her friends, the native of Oceanside, Calif., who has lived in Tucson since she was 5 years old, decided to "do something" with her photography. So she e-mailed a portfolio of her work to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and was eventually invited to become a volunteer photographer for the museum.
