A Utah-based company, Staker Parson Companies, said it has folded four former Cemex and Rinker concrete and aggregate plants into its overall operations, following an acquisition announced in December.
CRH PLC, an Irish building-materials group and parent of Staker Parson, bought the local properties as part of a $250 million purchase of 39 ready-mix concrete and aggregate facilities in Arizona and Florida.
An antitrust settlement with the U.S. Justice Department forced Cemex of Mexico to sell the operations after its take-over of Rinker Group Ltd. of Australia in July.
The local operations — Staker Parson's first in Arizona — are a former Cemex ready-mix and aggregate operation in Marana and three former Rinker operations on the Southeast Side and in Sahuarita.
Staker Parson, owned by CRH's U.S. holding company, Oldcastle Inc., said it has added upgrades including improved dispatch systems, quality assurance programs, and more accurate truck-tracking systems.
