The Arizona women's basketball team has had a rough go of it lately, losing three games in a row.
Before the Wildcats even tipped off on Sunday against Colorado, they suffered another loss — UA point guard Taryn Griffey is taking a leave of absence from the team for "personal reasons".
According to a UA spokesman, Griffey is still enrolled in school. She was not with the team at Sunday's game, and it's unclear when she will return to the program.
Griffey is one of the most highly-touted recruits of coach Niya Butts' tenure with the Wildcats, coming to the UA last year as a five-star recruit, according to ESPN, out of Dr. Phillips High School in Florida.
She redshirted her freshman season in 2014-15 as she recovered from a knee injury suffered in high school. Griffey also missed her junior and senior seasons of high school due to knee-related injuries.
