August 1994 — Jim Pignatelli joins TEP as senior vice president after a five-year stint as president and CEO of Mission Energy Co. in Irvine, Calif.
July 1998 — Pignatelli is named chairman, president and CEO.
1999 — Phased-in TEP rate reduction goes into effect, after which rates remain capped until 2008.
August 2003 — UniSource acquires the Northern and Southern Arizona electric and gas systems of Citizens Communications, creating UniSource Energy Services.
December 2004 — The Arizona Corporation Commission rejects a proposed $3 billion leveraged buyout of UniSource by a Wall Street investment group led by takeover specialist Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.
November 2008 — The Corporation Commission approves a tiered billing structure for TEP effective Dec. 1. The rate structure means a roughly a 4 percent bill increase for a typical customer, but bigger users would pay higher rates.
