Happy Easter! If you’ve seen Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ,” you probably wondered if there’d be a sequel. Officials say “The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One” and “The Resurrection of the Christ: Part Two” are in preparation and expected to appear in 2027.
Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in the original film, has been replaced by Jaakko Ohtonen, a Finnish actor who looks much like Caviezel 20-some years ago. The cost of de-aging Caviezel by computer is believed to be the reason for recasting.
The original film, however, is still available on Netflix, Prime Video and Apple TV. There are also rentals on Google Play and YouTube.
Check out the first part now, then prepare for next Easter season and the return.
