BEND, Ore. — Three Siberian huskies will be euthanized for attacking alpacas on a central Oregon farm.
The owners of the alpacas and the three dogs were both tearful during a Deschutes County Dog Control Board meeting Thursday, the Bend Bulletin reported (http://bit.ly/1CtFrmb).
Officials decided Tasha, Buddy and Wolfers had to be put down over fears they may attack again and were unsuitable for adoption.
Dog owner Norman Jensen was fined $1,000, which he can later appeal.
Two of Michelle Alexander's alpaca's were killed during the attack, and two others were later put down due to their injuries. She says a veterinarian is monitoring a pregnant alpaca that was also injured by the dogs.

"It's a devastating economic loss for me as well as a personal loss because I care for the animals a lot," Alexander said. "They didn't stand a chance with a pack of dogs. One animal they might be able to escape."
County sheriff's deputies testified the dogs were running loose after a neighbor's goats on June 22 and that the animals may have used a hole in their kennel to get out.
Jensen apologized for the incident during the hearing and said fireworks and gunfire had spooked his three dogs.
"I tried to keep them contained," Jensen said.
