WR Shawn Poindexter

Just as highly-touted defensive end Josh Allen made his college announcement, the Arizona Wildcats added another junior college player to its 2016 class. Shawn Poindexter, a 6-foot-6-inch wide receiver from Glendale Community College, verbally committed to Arizona Tuesday afternoon. 

Poindexter was verbally committed to Marshall but flipped to the Wildcats shortly after UA offered him on Tuesday. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. Poindexter caught 47 catches for 727 yards and seven touchdowns last fall for Glendale. 

With Cayleb Jones off to the NFL and David Richards running out of eligibility, the Wildcats had a need for a tall receiver, as Trey Griffey — who is 6-foot-3 — is the only returning experienced receiver taller than 6 feet. Poindexter, at 6-6, can help in that role. 

Poindexter is the 17th player to verbally commit to Arizona's 2016 class. Players can sign national letters of intent starting Wednesday.
