A 42-year-old Omaha woman was arrested this week in connection with an alleged December assault and theft, including of a sword collection, from an apartment.
According to a pair of affidavits filed by Omaha police officers, the woman’s arrest stems from her alleged involvement in an assault and robbery of a resident in an apartment at Jackson Tower at 27th Street and St. Marys Avenue. According to court records, the resident had been keeping a sword collection in his apartment for an acquaintance who was homeless.
After the acquaintance came back to the resident’s apartment around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 9, the resident went to retrieve the acquaintance’s sword collection. As the resident reentered his apartment, the acquaintance, a woman and another man followed him.
The three individuals were armed with a knife, a machete and a Taser. According to an affidavit, they began assaulting the resident and threatened to kill him if he did not give them his phone, wallet and money. After the man refused to hand the items over, the acquaintance allegedly struck him in the face. The man suffered a fractured eye socket along with a cut on his hand.

The affidavit said the three assailants then took the resident’s phone, wallet and the sword collection he had been holding for the acquaintance.
Security camera footage reviewed by police showed the three people exiting from the apartment shortly after 9:45 p.m. The footage showed the woman carrying several swords. Police said the three then left in a black Cadillac sedan.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday, a police officer stopped the woman in the Cadillac after she allegedly failed to signal her turns into a Mega Saver gas station parking lot and an adjacent alley at the corner of California Street and Saddle Creek Road. The woman allegedly told police officers she owned the vehicle and it was confirmed her driver’s license had expired.
The woman reluctantly allowed officers to search the Cadillac, allegedly telling them they “were nice cops” and they “won’t find anything.”
What officers found, according to an affidavit, was a piece of clothing allegedly worn in the robbery and 15 grams of methamphetamine.
After being advised of her Miranda rights, an affidavit said the woman stated she was present during the December robbery and “made other incriminating statements.”
The woman is facing multiple charges including robbery and possession of methamphetamine. She is currently in the Douglas County Jail.
