Bookmans Entertainment Exchange has extended the lease on its store at 1930 E. Grant Road through 2013.
The giant purveyor of used books, music, movies and other miscellaneous items will live on at the oldest of its six locations — at least for another five years — and company execs couldn't be happier.
"We looked at some Oracle corridor properties, but frankly we never wanted to leave the corner on Grant Road. We'd be happy to be there forever," said Sean Feeney, executive vice president of Bookmans.
Since the commercial corner the store sits on was bought by a partnership of private investors in the summer of 2005, the fate of the store at North Campbell Ave. and East Grant Road has been in question.
There had been talks about relocating the business Downtown following the expiration of its most current lease in November 2008. But Bookmans later dropped the idea, citing concerns about adequate space and parking, and a lack of residents in the immediate area.
