Amazing Lash Studio National Franchisee ‘The Power of You’ Conference
that took place in Scottsdale, Ariz. September 27-30.
The 2018 Amazing Lash Studio Scholarship winners and their respective
schools are:
Daniela Beckett, Upper Arlington, Ohio, Aveda Institute-Columbus
Growing up in Columbia, Daniela was immersed in a culture that
celebrated beauty. “Going to the beauty carnival with my mom every year,
beauty became part of who I am as a person,” she says in her application
video. Daniela believes that education is the fuel that will ignite her
passion for beauty into a career. “Going to school is the first step in
my journey to help empower men and women to be the very best version of
themselves,” Daniela says.
Sierra Childs, Round Rock, Texas, Aveda Institute-Austin
As an artist, Sierra views beauty as a form of self-expression. Her
application essay and accompanying story board described the hardships
she’s overcome in life, the resilience these challenges have helped her
form, and the relationships that have strengthened her. “These elements
of art, family, love, and strength have inspired me, and I am eager to
pass these elements on to the people I work with as a student and a
beauty professional,” Sierra says.
Marceyanna Marshall, Inkster, Mich., David Pressley School of
Cosmetology
In her application video, Marceyanna says makeup artists uncover each
person’s unique confidence and beauty. “We are all perfect, just as we
are; and makeup artists enhance each individual’s unique beauty,” she
says. Marceyanna celebrates the role makeup artists play in helping
clients celebrate special moments. “For an hour, I get to be someone’s
best friend as I help them prepare for a concert, date night, wedding or
any special moment.”
Cassandra Schulz, Austin, Texas, Aveda Institute-Austin
A former banker, Cassandra’s essay and storyboard describes how beauty
has evolved from a passion to a purpose to a career path. “I want to use
my struggles with acne to help others build confidence,” she says.
“Beauty is my passion, my purpose and now my career!” Cassandra views a
successful life as a life driven by balance and incorporating health,
fitness, nature and a spirit of persevering – including finding one’s
ideal career path.
Imani Simon, Lexington, Ky., Summit Salon Academy
Imani drew inspiration for her application storyboard and essay from
Maya Angelou’s poem “Phenomenal Woman.” “For a woman of color, this
industry wasn’t always as inclusive as it is now,” she says. “So, I’ve
made it my mission to help people to love the skin they’re in.” The
future esthetician wants to use her education not only to enhance
clients’ features but to educate them about proper skincare.
Heather Elrod, CEO of Amazing Lash Studio, says the company is honored
to help support the next generation of estheticians with scholarship
programs. “The demand for esthetics professionals continues to grow and
we are excited to help equip and empower future estheticians to take
advantage of this rewarding career path,” she said.
Beauty Changes Lives Foundation President Lynelle Lynch said the
generosity of Amazing Lash is helping not only students but spas and
salons. “According to data from the International Spa Association, there
are more than 30,000 jobs in the professional spa industry,” Lynch said.
“By funding this scholarship, Amazing Lash is shining the spotlight on a
very fulfilling career path and helping employers attract talent with
the skills and knowledge necessary for long-term success,” Lynch said.
