Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona has plans for two additional Tucson-area locations and one in Casa Grande.
A store in Oro Valley, on North La Cañada Drive near West Lambert Lane, should open in early October, said Lisa Allen, Goodwill of Southern Arizona's chief operating officer. That location will be in a new building next to a Fry's Food Store, Allen said.
The Casa Grande location should open by February 2012, Allen said. The secondhand retailer hasn't yet signed a lease, so Allen wasn't able to say where that store will be.
The third store will open in Tucson by mid-2012 in a new building at East Golf Links and South Houghton roads. Goodwill will lease that property from Larsen Baker LLC.
Goodwill opened a store in the Bear Canyon Shopping Center, on East Tanque Verde Road near Catalina Highway, last December. It also opened a retail store and job connection center in Sierra Vista in April.

The retailer has been expanding in recent years after it determined it could ramp up operations in Southern Arizona. While other retailers have struggled as consumers reined in spending, secondhand stores have seen their business improve.
Goodwill recently opened an attended donation center on the northeast corner of West Speedway and North Silverbell roads and has plans for another drop-off location at 6852 E. Tanque Verde Road, Allen said. That donation center should open in August.
By opening the new locations, the secondhand retailer is working to raise money for the additional programs it provides, Allen said. Grant money for those programs has gotten harder to obtain with the downturn in the economy, she said.
